AB0586 PREVALENCE OF EARLY SYMPTOMATIC KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS ACCORDING TO THREE CLINICAL CLASSIFICATION CRITERIA

چکیده
Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a heterogeneous disease. Different classification criteria for symptomatic KOA (SKOA) have been proposed. Determining the prevalence and comparing different of SKOA in patients with knee pain will serve as base when studying predictive ability these longer perspective. Objectives: To study individuals according to three criteria: American College Rheumatology (ACR), (1), European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR)(2), National Institute Health Care Excellence (NICE) (3). Methods: Baseline data from an ongoing longitudinal (HALLOA) including 296 pain, recruited by advertisement, were analysed. The categorized (ACR, EULAR NICE) based on age, clinical examination (crepitation), self-reported KOOS (pain, symptoms, ADL, sport/recreation), dichotomized fulfilling or not (no SKOA). BMI was measured (kg/m 2 ). Radiographic (RKOA) assessed Ahlbäck (1-5), defined RKOA grade 1 more at least one knee. Prevalence calculated (frequencies, %) each criterion, Chi-Square test Independent-Samples t-test used comparisons between not. Results: mean age 52 (min-max 24-73) years, 70% women 22% classified RKOA. criterion 57% 51% (EULAR) 73% respectively. In total, 48% had all whereof 32% RKOA, compared 10% among no SKOA. Regardless significantly also SKOA, p<0.001. Those older higher (Table 1). Conclusion: Approximately 50-70% having where lowest prevalence. A better understanding early essential capture follow long-term prognosis Further studies are needed. References: [1]Altman R et al. Arthritis Rheum. 1986;29(8):1039-49. Determinants of pain in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis
Background: Several factors are associated with the development or exacerbation of pain in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). In this study, we reviewed this context based on relevant studies. Methods: Recent published studies which have addressed the relationship between pain and KOA were summarized. Results: Correlates of the clinical, demographic features, laboratory tests and abnormalities on...
متن کاملThree trajectories of activity limitations in early symptomatic knee osteoarthritis: a 5-year follow-up study.
OBJECTIVES Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of activity limitations. The knee OA population is likely to consist of subgroups. The aim of the present study was to identify homogeneous subgroups with distinct trajectories of activity limitations in patients with early symptomatic knee OA and to describe characteristics of these subgroups. METHODS Follow-up data over a period of 5 ye...
متن کاملClinical classification criteria for knee osteoarthritis: performance in the general population and primary care.
BACKGROUND Doubts have been expressed about the performance of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) clinical classification criteria for osteoarthritis when applied in the general population. OBJECTIVE To investigate whether the distribution of population subgroups and underlying disease severity might explain the performance of these criteria in the population setting. METHODS Popula...
متن کاملStructural Associations of Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis
OBJECTIVE Structural changes of osteoarthritis (OA) may occur in the absence of pain. In this study, we aimed to identify histopathologic features that are associated with symptomatic knee OA. METHODS Medial tibial plateaus and synovium samples were obtained at the time of total knee replacement (TKR) surgery for OA (advanced OA group) or were obtained postmortem from subjects who had not sou...
متن کاملContribution of the COMT Val158Met variant to symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.
There is extensive literature reporting discordance between the presence and severity of symptoms and the degree of radiographic structural osteoarthritis (OA). Genetic differences may account for some of this discordance. Indeed, certain genetic variants implicated in pain sensitivity have been shown to be significantly different between asymptomatic radiographic cases of OA and symptomatic ca...
